Composers of the Future Workshop

The Composer of the Future workshop has been designed for people who are interested in getting into the music industry as an electronic musician/producer, or for musicians who want to add more to their music and live performance.

Participants will learn the basics in Ableton Live, the foundations of how to use it for writing and arrangement and the endless possibilities for music creation.

The Facilitators
Melania Jack and Patty Preece  (The Ironing Maidens).

Patty has been the main tech on the Ironing Maidens performance piece, developing MIDI controllers and custom Synthesisers inside domestic irons to use as performance instruments. Patty works as a VET teacher and Lecturer, (Central Queensland Uni, SAE Byron Bay) specialising in studio production and music production for screen, radio and live performance.

Melania has 10 years' education and industry experience in music performance and film production. She has independently released two solo Eps and has toured nationally and internationally. Melania was awarded Best Emerging Talent at the Byron Bay All Shorts Film Festival and Best Music Film Clip at the NCEIA Dolphin Awards.
