Brian Cassey - A Photographer's Life - Part One
Fri 08 Dec - Tue 30 Jan
Brian Cassey has zigzagged around the planet taking photographs for myriad publications - and has shared the stories around his long adopted home of Cairns.
This exhibition bears witness to a life spent working in the photographic industry. It contains many pictures that have achieved acclaim in Australia and Internationally.
“I discovered the enjoyment and power of the photographic image from a young age. When I was about eleven years, I nagged my parents to buy my first camera, a plastic 127 film 'VP Twin' from Woolworths for two shillings and sixpence. This exhibition begins with that very day and tracks the development of my work across a wide variety of situations, genres and geography; all the while wielding an assortment of camera kit. Part Two begins tomorrow.” – Brian Cassey
Brian captured opening night (with his camera of course!) in his recent blog which also mentions a few new additions to the exhibition including the first ever usable digital photojournalist camera from the 90s. Click here to read Brian's blog.
