Inspired by the recolourised Life in Australia series filmed in Cairns in 1964, this exhibition offers a small, intimate glimpse into everyday life. It doesn’t try to tell a complete history, but instead gathers fragments — quiet routines, fleeting encounters, and familiar scenes — that hint at what it felt like to be in Cairns at that time.
The exhibition also includes works from the Cairns Civic Collection of the era, offering a window into local histories and perspectives. Complementing these are photographs from the Cairns Museum, capturing the everyday simplicity and quiet beauty of life at the time.
The space is an invitation to pause, and to drift, if only briefly, into another time…
