Surface Tension is the invisible force that holds connections together while allowing them to shift, stretch and change. Inspired by the Cairns Pride theme of Reflections, this year’s exhibition considers how we are shaped through our encounters with others, exploring the impressions we leave behind and the traces they leave on us.
Like ripples on water, these exchanges are constantly shifting, altered by perspective, experience and time. It is within this space that reflections take shape, connecting what lies beneath with what appears on the surface.
Featuring work by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Sistergirl, and Brotherboy artists, this exhibition builds on over a decade of queer creative practice at Cairns Pride.
