Tanks Arts Centre Masterplan

The Tanks Arts Centre Masterplan report was commissioned to help set the direction for the Tanks Precinct. A series of workshops with staff and stakeholders identified the primary aims, aspirations and priorities.

The following list of items summarises these outcomes and suggests recommendations for additional amenity necessary for the ongoing support and improvement to the Tanks Arts Centre.

The report acknowledges a holistic approach to the future planning requirements for the Tanks Arts Centre.  It supports the Tank´s capacity to host a variety of different events and artistic disciplines.

Recommendations for additional amenities encourages the collaborative relationship between tanks 2,3, 4 & 5. The report also identifies the need to address both the immediate improvements to the interiors of the tanks, as well as the improvement to the connectivity between tanks.

Items listed are classified into the following:

Category A – The Tanks. Improvements to the interiors of the tanks to cover the operational aspects of the tanks ranging from staging /seating layouts and includes the recommendation for conditioning installation.

Category B – Site Amenities. Additional site amenities are required support the functions within the tanks provide improved facilities for services storage.

Category C - Site Circulation. Improvements to the connectivity between the tanks - upgrading the promenade, lighting and car parking facilities.

Category D - Canopies.  A proposal to construct high level canopies to provide shelter from the elements and create comfortable external gathering spaces located outside the tanks.
