Camouflaged amidst the lush rainforest surrounds of the Cairns Botanic Gardens precinct, you’ll find the city’s best kept secret! Three, WW2 naval oil storage tanks, creatively converted to house the iconic and innovative cultural venue that is Tanks Arts Centre. The singular charm of these heritage-listed buildings is the blank canvas they provide; with their tall, interior poles and oil-stained, bare concrete walls and floors, the opportunities for imaginative event themeing is endless. Embracing the site’s war heritage with gusto, one conference organiser worked with local production company to transport guests back in time - bedecking the tank with army props and paraphernalia, including an army jeep parked as a centrepiece amongst the diners. Local performers wore retro military uniforms and played big band songs all night long, providing an unforgettable evening for the delegates. Tanks Arts Centre, a unique venue for memorable events.
