The Volatinsky Trio have wowed festival audiences around Australia with their Russian and Balkan inspired instrumentals. Now they are coming to Cairns!.
Virtuosos on guitar/domra (Russian mandolin), cimbalon (East European dulcimer) and cello from Australia, Belarussia and the Ukraine, the music they play is inspired by their Eastern European backgrounds. Lucy Voronov is an International Folk Instruments Performers Competition winner and graduate of the Belorussian Conservatorium of Music. Anatoli Torjinski, the trio’s cellist, is a familiar face on Sydney’s live music scene and a graduate of the Odessa Conservatorium of Music in the former USSR. Last, but certainly not least, is Stephen Lalor, a graduate of the Tchaikovsky Conservatorium in Kiev. You can expect Russian & Balkan-flavoured original music, played on exotic instruments from Eastern Europe.
